Title: No Trace of Wm Anderson Douglas Robertson b1917

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out what happened to my grandfathers brother...

Born: May 16th 1917 at 56 Cathedral Court, Glasgow.
Full Name: William Anderson Douglas Robertson.
Mother: Janet Ballantyne Gordon
Father: William Douglas Robertson (Pvt 9th Btn Cameron Highlanders)
Parents Marriage: 28th April 1899

I can't seem to find any trace of him afterwards..Can anyone help... I've looked on Scotlands people but can't find anything obvious.

Apart from his birth - do you know anything else about him from any "stories" within the family?  Marriage/children etc

Did his father/mother leave a will?  Is there any mention of William in it?

Have you checked www.cwgc.org in case he died in WW2

No, nothing at all. My dad and grandfather have both died so no one to even ask. I don't remember any mention of him... my dad never mentioned him as an uncle that I can remember.

Could he have died abroad as a child if his father had been posted with the Highlanders and the family had gone with him?
Or was he only with the Highlanders during the war?

When and where was your grandfather born?    What year was the next child after William born?  Pat has raised a good point re death abroad so we need to look at the birth years and birthplaces of the children born after William (unless he was the last born). He was born 18yrs after his parents married

Mantha has 2 more siblings for him on her tree on Ancestry, but does not matter now.

Good find Rosie and also Pat's thought that he died outside Scotland
