Title: STANFORD - Ampthill/Maulden.

Hi there,

I have received some 'assistance' re my FT but I am really struggling to clarify the information before accepting it as factual.

I have a George STANFORD who was allegedly born at Ampthill in 1764. I cannot find this birth. His parents are William STANFORD (b1737) and a Mary CHAPMAN (b1740)

He married a Ann GURNEY at Maulden, 17 Nov 1785. I can find this marriage but there is another listing for a George STANFORD marrying a Ann SINFIELD 16 Dec 1788, also at Maulden, and the first born, of whichever George is mine, did not come until George arrived, at Maulden, to parents George and Ann, on 27 Feb 1791 so, as I see it, both are possible.

I would love to take the help on face value, and I am most grateful for it, but it is difficult to do that when verification has not been achieved.

Any help gratefully received.

How do you know the parents of George bn c 1764 are William & Mary if you do not have his baptism.

FreeReg has a baptism for a George Stamford (PR)Stanford(BTs) on 1 April 1766 in Maulden, parents James, a cordwainer, and Sarah.

Can't help with the marriage as obviously it could be either one.
