Title: Maestag Grave Search
Post by: sharon30 on Saturday 29 February 20 15:01 GMT (UK)
I'm wondering if anyone can help with a grave search in Maestag cemetary i.e
help locate the grave, get burial/inscription info and if poss. a photo of the stone.
looking for the stone of:
Henry Thomas b.1889 died 6/3/1972 of picton place, nanty. buried in maestag
should be buried in same grave as wife: Margaret Ann Thomas , think she died in 1961 or 1962
also a son in same grave : a Tom or Thomas Thomas, sorry no other details on this chap other than he died young somewhere between 1915 - 1932, (one of reasons we wanted grave details as only just found out this chap existed)
any help much appreciated

Assuming you mean Maesteg, you could contact the council and at least ask for the details (there may not be a gravestone)...... https://www.bridgend.gov.uk/residents/births-deaths-and-marriages/cemeteries/

Do you know Margaret Ann’s maiden name? If Thomas there is a birth of a Thomas H Thomas in Bridgend, March quarter 1916, with a Thomas H Thomas death aged 5, in Bridgend, registered in March quarter 1921.

Thanks for the reply, i indeed meant Maestag :)
We know there is a stone just not where exactly in the cemetary or the exact info on it the stone.
Margaret Ann was indeed also a Thomas so thank you for that info on Thomas at a glance the dates seem to fit in around the other children ok so might be him. No one ever spoke of him apparantly so we only found out about him in a chance conversation with a cousin ( think she found out from the stone, but she can't remember where it is and is to ill to go and look for us) and only thing they know is the name and that he's buried with his parents.

My Thomases are from Mathry, Llanhowell, early 1800s.

Given that you know the details for Henry, the council should be able to help. Not been in touch with Bridgend personally but most are very helpful if you have details (date of death, even approx, address, occupation). Not listed on findagrave or billiongraves.

Hi did Henry & Margaret Ann have two more sons b 1922 & 1923 and a daughter b 1914, registered 1915, as I can see a Henry Thomas b 29th March1889 at Picton Place, but all in household for some reason shown as Single?
Possibly an enumerater error!

There’s an Edward Hole born 1936 there too, assumed M Ann Hole was actually married with a son. Edward WH Hole mother Thomas born Tiverton Dec quarter 1936.

Frederick W Hole married Margaret A Thomas in Tiverton, June quarter 1936

Hi
M Ann Hole is Henry's daughter Margaret she was born in 1914 and married Frederick in 1936
Edward would be her 1st son
Think M Ann Thomas born 9th June 1891 must be henry's wife also called margaret ann
would you have full household list/details for them please

Sharon,

Ok this is the references you will require to find the grave etc

Maesteg Cemetery Burial Records record that there are three persons in Grave number 1437 recorded on Folio 24 of Burial Book number 2. (all have same address of 9 Picton Place as their abode)

Thomas Henry Thomas Buried March29th 1921 age 5. Service by H.J.Lewis
Margaret Ann Thomas  Buried 3rd Sept 1958 age 67. Service by Rev. Griffiths
Henry Thomas died Bridgend General Hospital 6th March 1972 .Buried 10th March 1972 age 83.Service by Rev. George Jones.

So what you need to tell the person going is that the grave is no 1437 .

Ok.
