Hi
Does anyone know anything about the above Methodist college please. I have a 12 year old border that was here with his brother in 1871 and I would love to see a picture if the building is still standing.
I have googled it but cant seem to find much.
Thanks in advance x

Hi
It was also called Elmfield College which is what it is under on Wiklepedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmfield_College
The building was still there in 2009 but i'm struggling to find a photo.
But if you google Elmfield College without Malton Road in it you do find some old postcards.

Then there is this chap who is researching it's history

The attached - also from the Card Index - shows a later picture and says the building has been demolished. It's probably a housing estate by now!

Yes, I live not far from there and the building is long gone. Most of it pulled down in the 1930s when the college closed.

Elmfield College closed in 1932 and the school buildings were then demolished. The 1830s Headmasters House remains as 1 Straylands Grove. I have the school Archives and can check your family members if you will email me the details to johnbibbyjohnbibby@gmail.com
