Title: Kanowna near Kalgoorlie, WA
Post by: Tarella on Wednesday 26 February 20 10:01 GMT (UK)
David Oakley, 28, left Wellington NZ for Kanowna in Feb 1897. He became a miner. Married a local girl Elizabeth Davies in 1900.
The name D Oakley appears in the Kalgoorlie press, from Kanowna, before and after 1897.
Who was the other Oakley? The voters list was only compiled from1903 onwards and records David, wife Elizabeth and sister Harriet. No other Oakley.
Does anyone have any knowledge of another Oakley connected with Kanowna? It only had a max of 12000 inhabitants.

Hi Tarella,
This is quite a good site for family history around Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields.
