Hi All, I've been looking through all of my trees and have one relative I cannot seem to get anywhere with.
John Kelly was born in Oldham on 28th Feb 1848 to Joseph Kelly and Harriot Kelly nee Scanlon (living somewhere called New Bank in Oldham). I have them on the 1851 Census living together at Paulden Street, Waterhead, Oldham but with the surname spelt Kelley. I know that John married Sarah Fitton in July 1871 at the Registry Office and they had a son, James William Kelly in 1872. I have just found another potential son called Joseph Kelly who was born in 1874 but died aged only one year.
John and Sarah then fall off the map a little - I have no census with John on after 1851 at all and I cannot find Sarah either on the census after they marry. Their son James W is listed as living with his maternal grandparents in 1881 & 1891. Sarah reappears in 1895 in Oldham, listed as a Widow for her second marriage to Robert Stott.
I cannot find any other information on John though - am I missing something obvious? Can anyone help to plug any of the gaps please? If Joseph is indeed his child they may be buried together but I cannot find a grave in any of the cemeteries.

Lancsann, John's father was listed as a painter at his birth, at the wedding John is an Iron turner but I think youve found him here. I knew about John's sister Harriet but I didnt know of his brothers, thank you!
At first I thought John may have been in the army or in jail for some of the time he is missing but because he and Sarah disappear I'm wondering if they went abroad or something.
