This might be him in 1901 Irish census.

Thank you both so much. It is definitely his birth and possibly him on the census. Now I only have to find out what happened to Isaac and Mary! From the link I see there is a death for a Mary in Ballymena so I will request the certificate

Did you click on the one you want??

Hallmark - didn’t see that! I’m not used to Irish registers, that is wonderful. Sadly it wasn’t my Mary and there is no trace of Isaac. Why can’t the English registers be online like this?
-
There is more than 1 Mary
-
Records only go to 1922 for Northern Ireland
-
I looked at all the Mary’s. So how do you find anything after 1922?
-
Isaac & Mary married 14.1.1880 at Ballymena Register Office.

In addition to Alexander, they had the following children;
Elizabeth 3.9.1880 at Gilmore St, Ballymena
James Gibson 28.6.1882 13 Alfred St, Ballymena
Sarah 15.6.1886 at Galgorm
I don’t see deaths for any of them around Ballymena 1880-1901, nor can I find them in the 1901 Irish census. That hints that the family may have left Ireland. Where did Alexander go? They might be in the same area. (Huge numbers of people from that part of Ireland went to Scotland and England to work. They’d be the first places to look, then perhaps the US and further afield).

GRONI (General Register Office Northern Ireland) is the only repository for birth, death and marriage records in what is now Northern Ireland, from 1st January 1922 onwards.
Data protection legislation in NI states that if you are using the internet to search the register, some of the records in GRONI will not be available to view.
Births – from 1864 to 100 years ago (i.e. current day 1920 in 2020)
Marriages – from 1845 (1864 for RC marriages) to 75 years ago (i.e. current day 1945 in 2020)
Deaths – from 1864 to 50 years ago (i.e. current day 1970 in 2020)
You can register on GRONI (free) then purchase a few credits to do full searches, view certificates, etc.
https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.

Spotted Isaac’s death 29.3.1913 in Ballymena Workhouse, aged 84. Widower. Occupation of horse trainer identifies him pretty well. Mary died 15.7.1889 aged 39 at the Cottage Hospital, Ballymena.
