Title: Newspaper look up please, Ironville
Post by: goldie61 on Tuesday 11 February 20 00:46 GMT (UK)
I don’t have access to findmypast or Ancestry at home, and wonder if anyone might be able to look up in Newspaper Archives to see if there is an obituary for a Reginald CASE, who died 22nd June 1978 in Ironville, Derbyshire. I’m not sure what the local paper around there is.
There is evidently a memorial to him in Ironville church, in the Choir, as he was choirmaster, church warden, bellringer, caretaker and parish clerk.
It says 'Reg' Case on the transcription of the MI I've seen.
I’m hoping there may be something about him in the local newspapers.

Thank you very much

Records for Derby Daily Telegraph in F M P only appear to go to 1959.

You can try a free search of Newspaper Archives to see what years are available for which newspapers.

Long Eaton Advertiser looks like the only Derbyshire newspaper showing for 1978.

There is no Case death announcement in the Thursday 29th June 1978 page 11 edition.

If you could do a little background research as to which was the local newspaper in 1978, then we can look to see if that has a relevant edition available.
Ironville appears to be between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Possibly the obituary would be in the Nottingham Evening Post (as opposed to the Derby Evening Telegraph) Ironville although in Derbyshire is close to Nottinghamshire too.
There is also the Alfreton Journal -available in local libraries but only until 1935
There is also the Derbyshire Times - which is a little more "up market"

If you interested I have date of banns for his marriage and details of baptism from parish records

There may be something in a Parish Magazine if the church keep them going back
