I'm hoping to get some info regarding Mount Road in Petworth, which was listed on my grandfather's death cert as usual address when he died in 1983. I have a couple of maps of Petworth but can't seem to locate this road and web searches have drawn a blank. I'd like to visit when I go to Petworth in the summer.
Thanks in advance :)

Hi,
Could it be Mant Road ?
-
I think Mant Road is on a fairly new estate and I believe that is where the local 'old peoples home' is situated' Is this possible?
My father spent many years in this home.
Linda
PS I got married in St Marys Church Petworth!!

Thanks kd and tjugg :)
It's written as 8 Mount Road, Petworth but I guess the person writing out the death cert may have misheard what my grandma said. I've looked up Mont Road on maps and looks to be a normal house rather than an OAP home. I'm wondering whether the local council may have electoral or council tax records from back then.. or was it the poll tax in those days!
tjugg you lucky thing, getting married at St Mary's! You join a few dozen of my ancestors who also were wed there. Looks a lovely church ;D

There is sheltered housing in Mant Road

Possibly it was Flat 8?
Have you looked for your grandfather in the electoral rolls ?

Thanks ShaunJ
It could well have been there, but after a call, the company are unwilling to confirm he was a tenant due to data protection (which as far as I'm aware only relates to information of living individuals). Anyway, a search on Anc and FindMyPast hasn't brought up any electoral rolls for the Petworth area in the 1980's unfortunately.
Thanks for your suggestions though, I appreciate it. ;D

You'll need to contact the West Sussex Record Office
