I am searching for birth information about my Grandfather, Arthur Ernest Chambers, born 30/06/1890 in Victoria Australia or possibly Scotland. I can find information on him in Perth, Western Australia from 1912 but nothing before. Anything just might help.

AIF attestation says he was born Fitzroy, Melbourne
But I am not seeing it in Victoria BDMs
Have you got his marriage certificate? (Blimey $35 Australian dollars)

Welcome to Rootschat thuris50
What information do you have already?
When and where did your grandfather die? Do you have his death certificate?
Was he in either of the World Wars? - Australia has a lot of information about Australians who were in the forces.
Was he married in Australia or England? What was his wife's name? Do you have a marriage certificate?
Any other information you have about him would all help to try and find him.
'Scotland' is a big place!

They are unlikely to actually be siblings but that is the impression they are conveying:
Mrs. Fletcher, of Cue, has received information that her brother, Private A. E. Chambers, has been reported missing since April 4th. Another brother, Private J. T. Chambers, who was wounded about the same date has recovered and returned to duty in the fighting lines on the Western front.

Mrs. W. Fletcher, of Cue, received by wire, the sad news of the death of her brother, Private J. T
Chambers, who died as the result of gas poisoning on November 15th in France.

Margaret Jane CHAMBERS, born in Victoria 1864, married William FLETCHER, and her brother James Todd CHAMBERS born in 1873, parents James Todd CHAMBERS and Margaret Jane MEADE.

Thank you all that have replied so very quickly. I have everything there is to know about my Grandfather from 1912 onwards (his marriage) but Dundee has I think linked it all together with her Trove piece about Mrs Fletcher from Cue. I think A E Chambers may have been an illegitimate child of James Todd Chambers junior or one of his older sisters and was raised by James Todd Chambers senior and Margaret Jane Chambers with James Todd junior as an 'uncle' figure. That could explain why there is no birth certificate?
