Title: LivingDNA
Post by: ABradley on Thursday 06 February 20 20:26 GMT (UK)

I recently completed a DNA tested with Ancestry. As many of you will be aware there many "matches" Of course most of the matches were very low cM counts.
I uploaded to Heritage and familytree DNA with the same result.
Two weeks after uploading to Living DNA - not a single match!
Convinced that there was a problem with the upload and after several e mails to their support, I was advised that there was indeed not a single match.
Has any one experienced this?

LivingDNA has not given me anything by way of matches but as its only a very small database I do not read anything untoward in that.

Dad has one match (I'm the manager of the account).  Apparently Living DNA are currently only matching to 3rd cousin level, hence it would seem the lack of matches.

That explains it - most of mine were beyond that on the other sites.

I bought my LivingDNA test in 2017. I currently have 6 matches, of which 3 are kits that I uploaded for relatives I had tested on Ancestry.

I have been on there over a year, a download from 23andMe, and haven't a link to anyone yet but several from LivingDNA are on GEDmatch and link to me - not impressed. Emailed and was fobbed off ::)

Andrew, an 'immaculate' record.  Beyond my conception. I've never heard of this happening before. Have you asked them to comment?

Martin,

After several e mails this was their reply:

"Do you know anyone in your family who has existing data that you can invite to join and upload via your portal?
Once this has been done and you have both opted in at different times it is possible that you will not see the match until the next release of new members. If it's been longer than three weeks since you both opted in please let us know the testing refs for you both and we can investigate further.

If you do not have other known family members who have tested with us and opted in it is possible that you may not have any matches until our database grows."

Kind of defeats the purpose.

Dad tested with Living DNA over two years ago and still has absolutely no matches. I was given the same answer when I queried it - he has plenty of matches on FTdna.

I can't even get them to Activate my kit  ::)

The site keeps saying that the activation code has already been used or is invalid. I bought it from them last year and it's hasn't been used. The code is on the tube and the box.

They said they'd get back to me  ::)

Took me 18 months or so to get 1 match - and that was a duplicate from FTDNA - so nothing new - except for an update to my Ethnicity profile which, for me, is just like all other sites I am on.I'm basically 70% Irish and 25 % Northern Irish/South West Scottish - because they can't be distinguishe due to long term mixing, with small percentages of North west Scottish & Cumbrian - again areas wher inter mingling could have taken place over millennia with the Irish! So basically 95% Irish, which could be 100 % Irish as the small% could be 0% in reality.

I tested with LivingDNA and have been trying to upload results to other DNA matching sites.
I abandoned the upload to MyHeritage because it was taking soooo long, way longer than to Gedmatch. Is that usual?
I registered with FamilyTreeDNA but the DNA upload options were only for tests from Ancestry, 23 and me, or MyHeritage.

I'd be grateful if anyone who's used LivingDNA could let me know whether they successfully uploaded their results to these or any other sites.

Thank you,
Pixie
