Hi
All I know of my uncle Bob (Robert) is that he was captured by the Italians (possibly Cyrenaica) and imprisoned. At some time he escaped and made his way to Switzerland, beyond that I have no other information. I would be glad of any other information on his escapades. TIA.

All service records for people serving after 1920 are still with the MOD.
They are not available online - anywhere!
See: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
There is a fee of £30, and you'll need a copy of his death certificate.

If by "his escapades" you mean his time in captivity and escape, his records, should you choose to apply for them, will have no more than the dates (which you have already) and perhaps a record of which camp he went to. You have seen his listing on the POW lists which are simply that, there is no detail of the time between.
Presumably he didn't leave an written record with the family? Have you tried local newspapers?

Paper dated 15th August 1942

Another record has
G R Myers Lieutenant Colonel 8th Batt Royal Tank regiment
Something not quite right with the second record. He was Trooper not a Lieutenant Colonel and was in 7 RTR not 8 RTR - I suspect the transcription , the dates are correct.

Hi Cath151
Can I ask you from which paper did you get the cutting from?

Hull Daily Mail 15th August 1942
Does the address ring a bell?
John R Myers, Polly and Joyce are living at that address .
