Hi,
I expect it probably is Coyne, but just in case: My first idea was Eoyne, which I've come across a couple of times in the past as an Irish surname.
At first glance, the first letter looked like the "E" in Elizabeth, but I think the top squiggle may be missing.
Best regards,
Karen

I see Darrock and Coyne too.

Where have you come across Eoyne?
I've never heard of it so I just tried it in several Irish data sets and get no result each time.

Elizabeth Darroch or Coyne...
Darroch would be her maiden name & Coyne a previous marital surname or aka e.g. if her mother had married/remarried?
I have known brothers in the past with surname Coyne which I believe is likely of Irish origin?
It looks like a Scottish DC?

Looks like Coyne.
When you posted I had only just finished reading one of the Brady Coyne Mysteries, by William G Tapply. :)

I'd be inclined to think that was a transcription error at some point in the family's history and it would have started out as Coyne.

You may well be right. And I am unable to verify the validity of the content of the linked website.
I was merely trying to help. I shall desist in future. That way, we both waste less time.

I was merely curious about the occurrence of the name, I didn't mean to waste your time, sorry, I don't consider it a waste of mine, I found it useful, something new learnt.

My apologies, Sinann.
I was having a bad day. I shouldn't have been so hasty with my reply. :-[
