Harry was born abt 1862 and died 25 Mar 1907 India. He married Fanny Byford 12 Nov 1894 in India.Fanny born 1868 Suffolk and died 30 Oct 1934 Ipswich.
Harry was an engineer and trained at Thomasson College in India and worked for the East India Company from 1884 up to his death. Since he trained at Thomasson I get the feeling that he may have been born in India but that may be wrong.
Any ideas where to look/

Hi
I had a look at the marriage you mentioned and it seems Humfress was not Harrys birth name. the entry read Harry Humfress formerly STUART. His father id listed as William Stuart. hope this helps

Theres a marriage between a George Humfress and and Eleanor Blanche Ball in 1881 in Cawnpore, Bengal. Its the only one I can find in roughly the right time period, not sure how it all fits together right now will keep looking. Is it possible Blanche is his mother and she remarried George ?

I think George Humfress died 1904 in Agra and his birth year is listed as 1854
Also found a birth of a George Humfress in 1854 in Ipswich Suffolk that might be relevant

Not sure it helps but the Army Births on F M P lists four siblings whose father was in 34th Regiment
George Humfress 1854 Ipswich
Jessie Humfress 1849 Ipswich
Mary C Humfress 1851 Ipswich

Thanks for having a look. Sorry that I neglected to mention the Stuart connection. Kind of important.
I wonder if Harry was born before the 1861 marriage of Jessie Louisa Humfress to Williiam Stuart?

If he was born pre the marriage he should be the son of George Humfress, given that George died about 6 months before his wife's Jessie's remarriage.
I would think the probility was that Harry was born post the 1861 marriage.
