Title: OLDFIELD Family Queensland
Post by: Yorkshire_Lad on Sunday 19 January 20 11:57 GMT (UK)
Hi Everyone

I'm needing help in finding a D OLDFIELD who flew from London to Perth 1960's. At the time he was almost 25 years of age and unaccompanied and single. He had recently graduated as a Chemist and was en-route to Melbourne to be employed by Defence Standards Laboratories. It is believed that he may have at some time later married and again later in life moved to Queensland.

I found this which may be him:

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/122389088?searchTerm=%22David%20oldfield%22%20chemist&searchLimits=

I entered his name in inverted commas and the word chemist (in case the link doesn’t work).

You might find him on electoral rolls. (Try Ancestry)

Each State will need to be searched separately as they each hold their own records. Marriages that recent won’t be searchable online.

Added: If he is not deceased I think you will need to remove his name.

Social media might be worth checking. Or an email to previous employer, who may or may not be willing to pass on his details. Phone books (I have no idea what is searchable online sorry).

It is intentionally difficult to search recent events in Australia for reasons of privacy.

Sending PM as these people may be alive.

Edit to add:
The information I sent may be incorrect as I see another person of the same name arrived in 1946, aged 16 with mother and two siblings giving their address in Australia as Toowoomba.  The Toowoomba man has a different occupation.  I'll leave you to sort it out!

I believe that he might still be in Victoria:

(It might be time to remove his name from this post)

Yes.  There are TWO public figures by that name in Australia.  One is the Industrial Chemist who was almost  25 when he arrived in Australia in 1967,  and one is a former politician.

Both are living.

I am confused though,  you see the quote I have cited in this post has been extremely modified.  I was replying to the wording it displayed earlier.  There is no mention of the original wording.

1967 minus 25 = an age at which many Australians are very very likely to be still alive
