Title: Memory jog required
Post by: robsdad on Tuesday 14 January 20 14:58 GMT (UK)
Hi All,
Is my memory playing tricks or was there a pub in the ‘60s on the site now occupied by The Chestnut Tree in Finchfield Wolverhampton ?
Please put my mind at ease.
Regards
robsdad

Looking at old maps (this isn't in my local area), the Chestnut Tree isn't on the exact site of the previous pub, which was further forward on the narrowing strip of land closer to where Finchfield Rd West and Castlecroft Road meet. It was called The New Inn (a quick Google of "New Inn" Finchfield seem to show a couple of photos). It seems to have been demolished in the 1970's to allow the junction to be re-aligned.

Hope that helps.

Hi Readydale,
And thanks for the information you kindly supplied.
I thought I remembered a pub on or very near the site, so now I can sleep at nights.
Many thanks for your time and help.
