Elizabeth was the first wife of my grandfather, Richard Luffman. I have so far been unable to extablish whether they had any children together, can anyone help. The general area is Alford to Thorpe. Thanks.

When did he remarry?, and what registration district
-
Is this your Richard in 1881? If so the answer appears to be yes
Locomotive St, Boston
Richard Luffman 52 - b Alford Railway labourer
Elizth. Luffman 57 - b Orby
William H. Luffman 18 - b Great Steeping. Railway labourer
Ada H. Stephenson 2 - boarder b Boston
RG11; 3218; 94; 24;
Richard is noted as William's father when he marries in 1883
However, 1871 has William as nephew
There is a birth registration of a William Henry Rhoades Luffman in the right period, with no maiden name, and a baptism which lists his mother as Ann, single woman - see https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/581891a5e93790ec8bb24d16/william-henry-rhodes-luffman-luffman-baptism-lincolnshire-great-steeping-1868-07-19?locale=en
I suspect Richard and Elizabeth didn;t have children (as none appear with a Bierly maiden name) and adopted his sister's child. Ada Stephenson is listed as nurse child in 1891, by which time they have another infant nurse child with them

Thanks to both respondents. He remarried in 1894 to my grandmother Laetitia Burton.He was at least 66 My aunt was born within 6 months and my father 4 years later. The Y chromosome test holds up!!
William was the illegitimate son of his neice, who had married the believed father William Rhoades with whom she had further children. Funnily enough William never returned to his birth parents and siblings. The nurse children were simply that, believed to be short term fosterings ( at that time there was no legislation) who returned to their birth parents. I am looking with no success so far to possible births between 1855 and 1870.

Both the death of Elizabeth and the remarriage are registered in Boston 1893 and 1894 respectively.
