Hi, looking for advice, I am trying to find the grave of my Grandmother Alice Arnold nee Keenan.
She married John William Arnold in December 1909 at St Cuthbert’s Chapel, Brooms, Iveston, Leadgate, County Durham; they lived in Happyland, Leadgate. Alice died at home on the 11th March 1918.
I know they were Roman Catholic and have contacted St Patricks Consett who have no record of burials going back to that date. I have also contacted the Bereavement Services Officer at Durham County Council who, unfortunately have no record of the burial.
Any advice or guidance will be most appreciated
Many thanks in advance

Was it reported in a local newspaper?

Have you found her husband's burial anywhere? she might have been buried same place.

Thank you for your reply Pauline, no I haven't found it reported in any local Newspaper. I do have her death certificate though

Thank you for your reply, my Grandfather remarried after her death and died in 1950. I have contacted the Bereavement Services Officer at Durham County Council but unfortunately have no record of his burial either.

Thank you for your reply, it is my guess that she is buried at Our Lady and St Joseph's, Brooms. I believe that St Patricks at Consett keep the records, at least that's where I was directed to and received the reply to my enquiry from. I have also spent a couple of hours walking the graveyard but couldn't find anything, she may be buried in an unmarked grave.

A further thought - have you managed to contact Our Lady & St Joseph? Reason I ask is that they may not have submitted records to St Patrick. Always worth a question :)

Just wondering whether you care to "push your luck" and try the phone number :-\ It may or may not work. Obviously I wouldn't refer to an earlier e-mail enquiry :-X
Also, looking at your initial post - St Cuthbert - how does that fit in with Our Lady? I don't know the area or the parishes - so this might be yet another stupid suggestion :-X

I believe that St Cuthbert's was the original Church at Brooms until it was replaced by Our Lady and St Joseph's.
I think I will try to phone them, or I may visit. Once again thanks for your suggestions
