Hi,
First time poster, so please excuse any mistakes! :P
I've attached an excerpt from the birth register of Archibald Lamont, son of David. It says that David is in ... "Tawny"?? Could that be correct?

See below which suggests that as well as Shalunt from the line above,there may have been a Tawnie(?) in North Bute.

It looks like it is synonymous with Tawnich towards top right on this map

That's really helpful (and yes, I laughed about the fornication too!!), especially since I've noticed that marriage dates quite often precede birth dates by only a little while for quite a few of my ancestors, but they haven't been reprimanded like poor old Archibald and Effie :)
The last map was also interesting for me because I've found ancestors at Auchagoyl and Millhouse, so was great to see those places too.
