Title: Edward McMahon: Crossmaglen
Post by: MacMahuna on Monday 06 January 20 11:48 GMT (UK)
Hope I have this on the right page.
I'm looking for the mother of Edward McMahon born 1843 in Crossmaglen
His father, who was a farmer, was Michael. I think he was also born there in about 1820
Michael's father was also Michael and his mother Cath Martin.
Edward married Catherine Clarke 12 December 1867  Residence on the marriage certificate is something like Drumlaghan, Hers is Teer.
Thank you

Thank you for that but would you believe amongst all those registers there are none between 1829-1845 and I need 1843!

Residence on the marriage certificate is something like Drumlaghan, Hers is Teer.

It's Drumlougher and you're right about hers being Teer. They are side by side in Creggan Civil Parish.

There must have been two Edward McMahons born 1843 in Crossmaglen.
Mine's father was definitely Michael but there is another with a mother, Susan Neville, but the father is also Edward!

have you tried looking on the creggan historical society web site. if you search the townlands section for the townlands you have mentioned, there are several McMahons mentioned, the oldest being Hugh McMahon.
