I am looking for some help
John hummerston (on 1841 spelt hammerstone/hummerstone, with wife sophia , son absalom/absolom born 1839, son john born 1831) the father of Elizabeth Hummerston born in epping around 1819 and I think the daughter of Lydia Gardener. can anyone confirm if this is the same John Hummerston who married Sophia Martin (born around 1819) in 1836. When John married Sophia Martin he was a widower.
Elizabeth married William Donaldson 1843 in Hackney and her father John was a shoemaker.
Cant find elizabeth on 1841
John on 1851 but dead by 1854
Any help is much appreciated

Have you found John, Sophia and Elizabeth on 1841 census?
Could we have a few more birth dates, please?

Is this your John, the shoemaker, on the 1851?:

1841: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQ2C-MTZ
I think John Jnr and Ellen may be from first marriage.

I think (if this john is elizabeths father, then these are elizabeths half brothers, as absalom mother was called Sophia and he is with her in 1851)
Thank you for your help

What happened to all the children - have you found them in 1861?

Think Maria died 1852. Possibly Jane also.

Thank you , is there anyway to see who elizabeths mother was ? Ive tried amd cant find it , i dont think it is lydia now. Is there a way to see witnesses for william and absolom marriages , strange how they have ended up in london. Again all help appreciated.

Elizabeth's Mother might, or might not, be named in parish records.
You are also then looking for marriages of her Father prior to her birth, and possible deaths of her Mother after her birth (or death after and marriage before any possible siblings.)
Many parish records are not on-line.
Why did you think it was Lydia?

I saw a john hummerston married a Lydia gardener and thought this could be her mum but now im not so sure.

There are a number of Hammerstone/Hummeston/similar children buried in Epping in 1809, 1821 & 1822, with parents John and Mary. Not sure if that helps at all
