I am looking for any information on my family who lived on the Wirral. My dad Henry Waring was born at Woodchurch Farm in 1916 and his father George Waring was born at Brimstage in 1831. George and Ellen had 7 children and they moved around the Wirral area and were farmers. My grandfather (Also George) went to Canada in 1927 and I am not sure what happened to him. He also has a brother William who moved to Ontario. I am sure I must have some living relations in Wirral who I would love to speak to.
Hoping someone can help.
Regards,
Clive Waring

That would make his father in his 80's when your father was born

Clive, please remove your email addy as this is not allowed on Rootschat. Any further information can be done through the message system, the little white letter.
It looks as though the rest of the siblings were registered in the Lancaster registration district.
Do you know when your grandfather was born and what was his occupation?
-
Sorry. My Grandfather was born in 1871 and he was a farmer.
-
You have the relationship incorrect.
My dad Henry Waring was born at Woodchurch Farm in 1916 and his father his grandfather George Waring was born at Brimstage in 1831. George and Ellen had 7 children and they moved around the Wirral area and were farmers. My grandfather (Also George) went to Canada in 1927 and I am not sure what happened to him.
Henry's second name was Osbert, not Oswald.
The GRO has Henry's second name in full
WARING, HENRY OSBERT BENNETT

This looks to be the baptism of your great grandfather George
First name George
Last name Waring
Birth year 1830
Baptism date 19 Sep 1830
Place Bromborough
County Cheshire
Country England
Parents William & Mary
A look at the original image shows William's occupation to be Farmer
-
You are correct I have my fathers birth certificate and it says Osbert. He was also called Oswald by some!
-
Will and Mary were my great great grand parents.
-
What you need to do is work your way through Henry's siblings looking for marriages and any children from those marriages.
Then try and trace them through something like 192.com or electoral rolls or appeals in newspapers for information on the current generation.
-
Thank you...

George's sister was my great, great grandmother, I have them in my tree.
You have to be very careful with the Waring family in the Wirral as there are literally thousands all with the same christian names, even a tiny place like Brimstage can have a couples with the same names and same children's names, researchers tend to land on anything that looks right and put all sorts of incorrect information on their trees. Sometimes Waring is spelt WAREING or WEARING or even WEARRING on the parish records. I have been researching this family for 15 years and still find errors and big gaps in the records. You will find Cheshire Parish records and Bishops transcripts very useful in the earlier generations.

Hello and thank you for your reply. Do you mean George born 1832 (my Great Grandfather) or George born 1871 (my Grandfather)? I have lots of information relating to my family and would love to compare notes. I understand what you mean about lots of Warings and spellings!
Regards
Clive (Waring)
