I will be looking to see if I am entitled to free extra tools as I was tested by MyHeritage. I could always try uploading my own MyHeritage data again and see if that works.

If you tested with them then you should already have access to the tools.

I have had a look to confirm, but I think because my test was free as part of the MyHeritage DNA Quest project I get prompted to sign up for a subscription when I try using any of the tools.

I have deleted my cousin's DNA from Myheritagedna and uploaded it again, to take advantage of this offer. It has been very frustrating over the past few months not to be able to access these tools.

I'll have to see what nationality they give him this time!  :)

How did it go with the deletion and re-upload Margaret? I have been contemplating doing the same with the kits I uploaded previously. Any issues to be aware of?

Craclyn, No problems so far, I can't be any worse off, as uploads are already free there.

Comments to DNA geek blog about this offer suggested the delete/upload again method.

https://thednageek.com/free-uploads-to-myheritage-this-week-only/.

I only did it yesterday, waiting for results to see what happens, takes 5 days.

Martin, I get prompted for a subscription, but not when looking at DNA matches.

Have you got access to chromosome browser and shared matches?

This is what I missed when viewing my cousin's results.

I don't know if myheritageDNA will allow you to upload a myheritage file which is the same as the data already there. Worth a try.

If it doesn't work, it would be well worth you paying to access these tools, which are amongst the best DNA tools available from the various sites.

I managed to upload my FTDNA data, originally downloaded from MyH, but it will take 5 days to process.  I have also up
uploaded the same data to a new MyH account, but again I have to wait 5 days. On my original free test account I can't use the tools. Thanks Margaret and Craclyn.

Do I need to subscribe to My Heritage to get this?Ive just had a free trial, during which I uploaded my DNA,but decided not to subscribe for now.Can I still view matches?

No, You don't have to subscribe.

Can't guarantee the offer will work, but you lose nothing by trying it. By the time my cousin's results are ready and I can report back, the offer may have finished.

You can view matches with or without this offer, but the tools are some of the best going at DNA sites.

Regards Margaret

Update 19:30. Results through and tools fully useable. Good offer.

An update from me.  I uploaded the FTdna data to my main account and was not able to access the tools.  I have now tried again with a new account and I am still waiting.  More as soon as I get an email confirming the upload.  I think people should upload now, and see what happens.  you can always delete it later.

16:49, I just received an email as follows: Dear MH, Thank you for creating your family tree on MyHeritage!  A new, free family site was created just for you. Go to www.myheritage.com and log on, to visit it. "

There is nothing to see yet, but I was able to log in.  I will keep checking.

I uploaded my mother's Ancestry raw data on Friday.  Just checked and the matches are now available and the tools seem to be working. :)  I don't think from memory you can view matches without upgrading but can't remember for certain. In any case its just allowed me to submit a request for an auto clusters report which I'm pretty sure you can't without the upgrade.

Smud, I've never been able to access the AC report.  That sounds like progress.

I wonder why I can't.

I've two other uploads on there from earlier in the year and have been able to get the AC report, but I've paid the upgrade fee on both.  So was nice to get one for free. :D

Especially as I've just uploaded both my parents raw data to LivingDNA and paid the "upgrade" fee to get the recent ancestry regions report, which has proved useful because at last one of the companies has finally assigned some Germanic DNA to Dad.  On Ancestry they've given me some but not Dad, yet its his 2xGreat Grandfather who was German (my 3xGGF).  I know the ethnicity reports have to be taken with a pinch of salt but the paper trail does show the German ancestor and to be fair the regional reports from LivingDNA are very close to the paper trail which is encouraging.  Just a few that I've no idea about ... yet. ;)

Still finding my way around the site.........

I do not have a paid for subscription.

Still exploring - but can see DNA matches, chromosome browser plus applied for AutoClusters, which was enabled within about an hour.

Don't know about Bearkat, but I have never had a subscription with Myheritage.

I transferred my husband's and my own DNA there a couple of years ago, have always been able to access our ethnicity estimates and use the tools (as updated) - view all matches, compare all matches one by one or several together using chromosome browser, send messages, view trees of DNA matches, Auto cluster reports etc. These were continued for free after they started charging, as they promised.

My cousin's results I uploaded this year, and was severely restricted in what I could do, but didn't think it worthwhile to pay extra to use the tools for his results.

Having uploaded his again, I do now have access.

If this upload doesn't work for you, Martin, for whatever reason, I strongly suggest that you pay the upgrade fee to use these tools.

Subscription fees and upgrade charges are not the same thing, subscription gives you access to the whole site, records, trees etc, the upgrade charges is purely for DNA.

It's a busy time of year so I haven't had much time to spend on the site but so far I've been impressed.

Everything was processed quickly and the tools look great.

I don’t have any experience with Ancestry DNA tests, so am unable to compare, but I uploaded my raw data a couple of years ago when it was free to do so and find MyHeritage tools very good and easy to use.

Most of my good matches to date have come via this site.

When they first introduced the charges, I uploaded my father’s raw data about a week too late to get free access to all their tools, which was a bit frustrating at the time, but feel that paying to use all their tools was well worth the cost.

I tried (for 2 days) to take advantage of the offer but kept getting error messages that my email address already linked to an account (no account and tried my 3 different email addresses so finally opened a brand new email account but got same error message) so gave up. Following day they sent me email saying they'd had a glitch but should be working now.
Uploaded 2 of the accounts I managed and waiting for 3rd one to upload (any minute now).
My DNA got over 8,000 matches, I contacted 4 people and got 2 responses right away (one a twice 4th cousin and other 3rd cousin). Of the other two, one is a 2nd cousin I can get hold of anyway and last one is a SURPRISE!
For years I've been tracing my great-grandmother's family with a fairly uncommon surname and have extensive details on them especially her 3 uncles and 1 aunt who left Ireland and settled in Michigan (via Canada). Time after time I came across another family in opposite end of Michigan with same surname that also originated in Ireland. Now, according to DNA, it turns out that we seem to be related which means I'll eventually be able to add pages more to family tree.
Without a paid membership to the site I'm able to view matches, filter them in various ways and make contact. So far, so good.

Right, I'm having a play with My Heritage this afternoon.

I'm adding to my family tree.  The site seems very keen that I should add other trees to mine.  Is there any way to just add the people I want?  I can cancel the Instant Discoveries (never to see them again) but can I ignore them??

Your help would be appreciated.  :)

I've never had a paid subscription to this Site, but uploaded (from Ancestry) when it was still free to do so.

I managed to persuade several of my matches from Ancestry to upload during the 'gratis week'; which has been interesting.

Bearkat, - I did put a Tree up on MH, - but I kept getting messages from them saying that if it got bigger, I'd have to subscribe, - and so I've taken it off now.

Romilly.

I had a tree on MyHeritage that was too big, always had warning notices when I logged in. I have now deleted it and started a smaller direct line one, which is so far OK with them

Just put up a tree as you wish, Bearkat. I tend to ignore the instant discoveries - so far, they are either known or incorrect. Just don't click on them if you don't want to see them.

I just have a very simple direct line tree with them.

Gadget

PS -I clicked on people matches and they're telling me that they've found a photo of an ancestor of mine who was born in 1741!!  Ignore is a good command!

I just want a basic outline tree.  Right or wrong, I want it to be my tree not a copy of someones else's.

I can see a click on the ignore button coming.

That's what mine is, bearkat -  a simple direct line tree.

I have all the various documents that they are suggesting that I should look at and more. I've been researching my lines since I was 8!

My full trees are on my own machine.
