Title: Looking for Robert Kelly born Dublin 1900 - Deceased possibly Wolverhampton
Post by: Murphyz on Saturday 07 December 19 17:56 GMT (UK)
Hello,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this - looking for information on where Robert Kelly went after 1937. Robert Edward Kelly b1900 to William Kelly (born Dublin) and Annie Kate Barnes (born England). Lots of siblings all born Dublin. Robert is my great grandfather on maternal side.

Robert married Alice Fitzgerald in Dublin in 1922, many children all born Dublin. I think he left Dublin sometime around 1937 to go to Coventry or similar area to look for work. He died in England in early 1960s, possibly 1963.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Have you looked for him on the 1939 register?

Did Alice or any children travel with Robert to England?

Hi there,

Alice Fitzgerald Kelly remained in Dublin (deceased 1968). There's nine children born Dublin - no one travelled to England with Robert. As adults, some of Robert and Alice's children stayed in Dublin, I think 3 of them ultimately emigrated to Canada, one New York, my gran went to England, married a Scot, Bobby (Robert) went to Australia. I wish I'd paid more attention to my grand-parents stories. I've the impression Robert snr did not return to Ireland.

The attached from wills and probate might be your Robert.  His name, year of death, probable location and widow's name all match.

Brilliant didn’t know that was possible, I’m only used to searching Scotlands People or the Irish records. Much appreciated

Hi
A wee update - thanks to assistance on roots chat, we were contacted by living descendants of my great grandfather who had no idea there was a large extensive family in Ireland and now across the globe. Family were able to provide them with some photos and more info about great grandfathers family tree.
