I seem to be struggling with this one. I am trying to find the birth of Annie Elizabeth Jermy. That is the name on her marriage certificate in 1876, she was aged 20 and her fathers name was Alfred Knight ??!! She married Charles Abbott in Bromley. You would suppose her birth was about 1856 but...
I can't seem to find her in 1861 anywhere. On 1881 census she was aged 23, making birth 1858 and it states she was born in Shipdham. Also in 1901 she was aged 43 and again Shipdham for her birth place.
Is there anyone out there that can help please?

Don't know if this is relevant or if you already have it but the name is so unusual
An Elizabeth Ann Jermy married quarter ending December 1854

Can't spot Annie Elizabeth at the moment

Brilliant!!
I'll have a look for the birth reference if it was registered and you can see what she put for father - if anything

:) :) Fantastic ! Thank you all very much. I will now have a look and see if I can find a marriage between Alfred Knight and Annie (Anna)'s mother, he was possibly step father to her. I will also send off for her birth certificate.
I have only been with Rootschat for 2 or 3 weeks, the site is brilliant I have had some really good responses.
Byee for now !

Oh dear, I cant believe that I last posted regarding the Jermy's over two years ago!! At last I have sent for the birth certificate and find that she was Anna Elizabeth, her mother was Hannah Jermy and her father is named as Alfred Knight, a groom. I have had a look on FreeBMD to see if I can find a marriage for Hannah and Alfred - no luck!
Can anyone help with 1851 census to see where Hannah or Alfred was please?
Thanks

If Alfred Knight is mentioned as the father on the birth cert then it doesn't look like he's the stepfather and maybe never married Hannah? :-\
I can't find a better match in Shipdham than a Hannah Germany from 1861 (now Jermany):
1851
HO107/1824 71 12 & 13
Shipdham
Church Lane
Emanuel Jermany, head, 53, Servant in Stables, b. Caston
Mary, wife, 47, Laundress, b. do.
James, son, unm, 24, Shoe Maker Apprentice, b. do.
Lewis, son, 21, Carpenter Journeyman, b. Shipdham
Hannah, dau, 18, Laundress Assistant, b. do.
Emmanuel, son, 16, Glover's Apprentice, b. do.
John, son, 10, scholar, b. do.
I can't see an Alfred Knight in Shipdham :-\

Thanks Tati
Like you, I think its a good match, in 1861 she was a 'laundress', also they are living in Church Lane. I agree, I dont think she ever married Alfred -
Thank you so much for your help.
