What is the earliest proved date you have for HOWARD of Rudbaxton?
Philip

taken fron an online account....George Haward’s will, dated 30 June 1650..

George would appear to have died in 1665 and there was a dispute about his will in 1669.

This short biog of Thomas Howard/Hayward of Fletherhill who was a Member of Parliament mentions that the family did not belong to the major gentry. If so, it would appear that there is no relationship to the Dukes of Norfolk, the premier duke in the peerage of England, Earl Marshal and Hereditary Marshal of England.

Thanks Osprey, very interesting family...below is another account where it does mention the family lineage to Norfolk..but surely there would be a pedigree somewhere if true!!

not sure the content has been checked - Mary died in 1685 and her husband in 1864! Agree there would be a pedigree somewhere if that where the case.
