Cant find anything on google, but does anyone local to Linton know if the above address still exists. Would like to see picture if possible.
Thanks for any help (it was there in 1880's)

My parents lived at no 16 a long time ago...unfortunately they are no longer alive, but at the time the next door neighbour (possibly 18) was a Joan...will see if I can find out more (may take time though!)

If you go and look at "Cambridgeshire History On The Net"
there is a picture called haverhill road linton...looks very much like the grip I remember as a child, if it is then 18 would be on the right after the first white cottage.

Hope this image shows!!!?
If it does,18 is the second thatched cottage down

Yep I can see the image ( new to this posting thingy!) I hope to be able to visit linton soon...will then see if "18" is "18" if that makes sense.

Thanks very much Pigpen. Sorry to not reply earlier but did not receive the automatic notification of replies for some reason.

Hi
my father was brought up in Grip Cottage in the 1940's. We went back a few months ago and some of the cottages are still there.
Email me and i have both current photos and 1900 postcards which i will forward

Hi Adam, are you there?

I still cant quite work this one out. I visited Linton the other day but cannot find /be sure where 18 grip cottage is. I found a rd called the Grip where Linton Zoo is. I am now familiar with Linton High st. I'm not certain where Haverhill rd is that Pigpen mentioned ( & picture of it shown on Cambs history website)

Any help appreciated

When Linton was bypassed, the Haverhill Road became a cul-de-sac of sorts and this is now referred to as The Grip - the maps available on multimap do not clearly show this.
If you still don't have an up to date photo of the house I can take one for you
