Married in 1890 after having at least five children of which my grandmother was the youngest. They had described themselves as man and wife in censuses, children's birth certificates etc up to that time. Henry was born at Davenport, Cheshire but moved to Derby as a young man - Louisa was born in Quarndon, Derby. I am wondering whether either was already married which prevented their marriage previously. Does anyone have any information about either of them please?

What information as to Fathers etc is on the marriage certificate?
Have you found them in all the censuses?

There is an 1861 entry for Henry George Peakes b 1832 Astbury - he is single. Perhaps they just never got around to marrying??

I don't know if there's any connection here to the Louisa Sadler / Peake
There is this marriage entry but have not been able to establish this couple together on the censuses as yet
