Hello.
I am trying to trace the ancestors of an Edward Gunner.
I believe he was born around 1827 In Hever.
Parents of Edward are listed as Thomas and Jane.
I can only find one marriage that might fit but it is quite some way away from where they appear to be based (Hever/Edenbridge) The spouse is Jane Steer and they were married in 1820 an Eltham.
I have 3 candidates for the possible father of Edward as follows.
Thomas Gunner C1798 Chiddingstone
Thomas Gunner C1797 Shipbourne
Thomas Gunner C1796 Edenbridge
They all have their possibilities but wondered if anyone had any firm info on the family in Hever as they had several children there. I don't think they originated there.
Hope someone may be able to shed some light on the above.
Many thanks
Paul

Where does the information that these are his parents come from, do you have his baptism :-\

Hello
As follows:
England & Wales, Christening Index, 1530-1980
Birth, Baptism & Christening
Name: Edward Gunner
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 1 Jan 1827
Christening Place: Hever, Kent, England
Father: Thomas Gunner
Mother: Jane Gunner
------------------------------------------------------------
The possible marriage I spoke of re the parents (Thomas & Jane) is as follows.
I am unsure if this correct, but I cannot find any other acceptable alternative.
in the London, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1932
Name: Thomas Gunner
Record Type: Banns (Bann)
Marriage Banns Date: 16 Jan 1820
Marriage Banns Place: Saint John the Baptist, Eltham, Greenwich, England
Spouse: Jane Steer
PS
I do not know if the 3 alternatives I stated are the father of Edward (The Thomas stated above), just possible candidates.
The reason I was posting was in the hope that someone may have more info as to which it might be or an alternative.
Many thanks
Paul

Edward's baptism entry says they lived at Meach Lands.
There are a few references to GUNNERs of Meachlands in the Maidstone Journal.
http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~mrawson/genealogy/mstjournal.html
In 1836 Meachlands was for sale so Jane's husband had likely recently died. Also shows a link to Chiddingstone with Reuben being appointed constable there.
This tree has Jane STEER marrying Thomas GUNNER 14 Feb 1820. Saint John, Eltham.

Earliest baptism at Hever that I can see with parents Thomas & Jane
Jane Eleanor Gunner
3 Oct 1820
Hever, Kent
That would tie in with the 1820 marriage

Thomas Gunner aged 39 of Meachlands Farm, Hever buried 30/12/1835 Hever.
I would suggest he was the Thomas Gunner bp.20/3/1796 Edenbridge, Kent, son of Thomas and Sarah. I note that Thomas and Jane had a son Reuben born 1829 Hever, and Thomas and Sarah also had a son Reuben born 1803 Edenbridge. The 2 places are just 2 1/2 miles apart.

Thank you all very much for your assistance and the links which I had not seen.
He is indeed the son of Thomas and Sarah as stated. I suddenly realized that I had correspondence with Lionel Cole many many years ago now, but didn't follow it up as thought at the time this line was not part of mine. Well you know how these things go! ::)
Thanks again for your help.
