Title: how to follow up a (French) story from 1946 Australian newspaper?
Post by: manalan on Sunday 17 November 19 06:51 GMT (UK)
Today I found a page of The (Melbourne) Sun dated 16th Feb 1946 (just blowing down the street--how odd is that?!) and this story in it has me wondering what happened to Georges and Gilberte. Apart from Googling (which led me only to a similar newspaper article) I have no idea how to investigate further. Thought I'd ask the clever people here.

Could you check to see if there was a marriage for the couple as you have both their names?  What a fascinating story - I'm sure the clever people on here will be able to find something for you.

Kind regards
GS

Hi

In France marriage certificates of 1946 are not online, but maybe there are more newspaper articles.
I'm also not sure if their birth certificates are online (which should have a remark about marriage), but the census lists are online until 1936.
