My granddaughter is learning about the war in school ,so trying to find information about my uncle griff who was born on 4/10/1911 ,he fought in the second world war got injured by shrapnel ,been told it happened in Italy ,he died in Rookwood hospital on 15/8/1953 through injuries ,can't find where he got injured please can anyone help please thank you Marion

Griffith Maddoc Thomas
His inquest is reported in a newspaper in 1953 Along with other details
"John Jenkyn Thomas said his brother had served in the South wales Borderers in the WW2 and was wounded in the back by a shell in Italy"
There is a G M Thomas on the casualty lists for 1944 who was wounded in Italy but he was in the Leicestershire regiment and as his name is not that unusual, probably not him.
