On Ancestry there is a marriage for Thomas Bray dated 26 May 1712 to a Hannah Russel but there is a note which I am not sure of it's meaning but mentions Hesther.
From 1714 there are several baptisms for children to Thomas and Hester. Thomas is my 6th G grandfather but there does not appear to be a marriage for a Thomas to a Hester.
Can anyone tell me what they think the note says?

I suspect the note on the marriage means she was also known as Hesther Russell

Thanks Rosie 99. I read it as ?u. if Hesther Russ. Also it appears to be in a different and better hand to the actual marriage entry.

I could not decide what the squiggles were. It would make sense if it was an alternative name though ;D . Maybe a baptism for her will make things clearer ???

I've tried to find a baptism for Hannah or Hesther(Hester) Russel(l) without sucess

Hi Tony.
On Alan CLarke Northants Bap cd's there was a family with parents William and Thomasine Russel
baptising children in Brixworth from 1671 until 1684 . Sadly no child named Hester or Hannah though.
