Hi all, its been a while since i was on here, so i may be a little rusty i have managed with everyone's helps, my Dads dad side of the family, now i have my dads mum side to research. Her name was Mary Dorothea Lloyd. she married John Rysdyk Meugens in 1939. i dont have much more than that, as i don't know where they got married, or what month. i dont even have her parents so its a limited search pattern at the moment. Any help will be most welcome as my sister is also interested in this as well , as i have shown her the massive file i have put together. Many thanks all

There's a baptism on FindMyPast (image/transcription) for a Mary Dorothy Revenhill LLoyd.
-
The baptismal record identifies Edward and Mary as parents, abode "Hafod", and the transcription mentions "Gwernaffield".

Welsh newspapers

see column 5 - Mold.
Mentions "... the late Edward Lloyd, of Hafod, ..."

The marriage certificate of Edward Lloyd and Mary Elizabeth Duncan (nee Ravenhill), has Edward as a widower, in addition to Mary being a widow.
Edward's father is recorded as Edward Lloyd, deceased. A West Indian Merchant. Mary's father as George Ravenhill as previous posts.

So Edward's parents were Edward and Agnes
HT - I think the newspaper clip you referred to was of Edward's brother Llewelyn's death and it refers to his father, Edward.

Hafod was obviously the Lloyd family home as both Edward and Llewelyn were baptised from there in 1857 and 1859, although recorded as born Liverpool. In both cases their father, Edward, was described as a Gentleman.
I've so far not found a marriage of the parents but note that Agnes was born in Scotland .

Found it
Edward Lloyd married Agnes Croll, 10 August 1851 in Mold by licence.
Agnes's residence is given as Cardross, Scotland.
As she was b. 1815, it could be a second marriage.
-
Isn't it Croil - reflected in the 2nd given names of the two oldest daughters?
-
I thought it looked like Croil on one entry but, given it's Scotish, it's more likely to be Croll. Not found her in Scottish baptisms with that name so she might well ahve been a widow,.
Also:
Agnes Lloyd of Hafod, Mold, widow, died 20 June 1908, (endorsed Edinburgh 25 Sept on Probate of the Will and Codicil) granted at St Asaph on 23rd July 1908, to Edward lloy, son, sole executor. Value of Estate £11,356, 3s. 2d.

Are you referring to the Donaldson family in the 1851? As it's a transcription, it could be wrong. I'll use a few credits on SP to see if I can get the image.
-
It's Croil on the 1851 but her sister looks like Crail ::)
Need to find a marriage for Jane and James Donaldson.
-
Here she is :)
Baptism
Agnes Croil daughter of James Croil and Jane Richardson, 15 Dec 1814, Glasgow.
(census says b. Glasgow, living Cardrossan)
-
Welsh newspapers online have the daughters with 2nd given name Croil
-
So does her baptism - see my last few posts
;D ;D ;D
-
FindMyPast (transcription only) has Agnes marrying Cardross, 12 Aug 1851.
-
Correction - cannot count! It's their 3rd given name.
-
She was married by licence (given Chester). I found that ref but no marriage itself. Will check SP.
Just for meug's benefit:
Mary Dorothea Lloyd - maternal line:
George Ravenhill m Selina Castree
l
Mary Elizabeth m1 Charles Duncan
m2 Edward Lloyd
l
Mary Dorothea Lloyd
Mary Dorothea Lloyd - paternal line
James Croil m Jane Richardson (later m. James Donaldson)
l
Agnes Croil m Edward Lloyd
l
Edward Lloyd m Mary Elizabeth Raven(s)hill
l
Mary Dorothea Lloyd
Meug - I've simplified so dates are those already given
-
Agnes Croil m Edward Lloyd, Cardrossan on 12 August 1851.
As it was pre 1855, there won't be much info .

If Edward married in 1904, how can she be a widow in 1908 ???

I think you're mixing up the generations!
Look at the trees - Edward - father and son. I did tell you earlier.
Edward's father was Edward!!
PS - you've put your question in the quote from me.
-
I'll leave you to it now.

One last piece of information that I have just transcribed.
