I have came across the Scamp surname. However, the records in Wales the same exact Scamp surname they are going by surname of Williams. For example, Samuel Williams and wife Piana. They are in baptism records, and census as Williams as well as Samuels siblings and descendants as Williams. But earlier they are Scamp surname. Why would this happen? Any suggestions?

Can you provide some birthyears and birthplaces please. Williams is a very common Welsh surname
Ideally - please post full details of the last census entry you have found
How do you know Samuel should be Scamp and not Williams?
The only Piana in Wales was Piana Meek b 1833 Radnorshire

Hello Sarah, my other profile havent been on that one in ages, so not sure how to delete that one and keep this current one that I am on now where I'm wearing blue jumper. I thought it just overwrites the old one. Is there a way you can set up everything to this new profile please? Thanks, Karen

Hello Carole, I came across my husbands family listed on the website Romany Genes at this link: http://romanygenes.com/scamp-family/4528685510
This tells of the Lee family and that Tom Lee married Selina Scamp. Ok, so in the 1881 Census for Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, Wales, they are listed as living with her parents Samuel Williams and Mary. In Breconshire, Wales baptisma, 30 May 1852 is Celena Williams daughter of Samuel Williams and Piana Williams. In Beaufort, Monmouthshire, Wales is the son of Thomas Lee and Selina Lee named Seth Lee, 23 Apr 1882. The baptism of Seth Lee and wife Lucy Price is in Llangyfelach, Glamorganshire, Wales on 16 Aug 1910 named Frederick Lee.
When you look at the Romany Genes link site, they have the Lee family all coming from the Scamp surname and not Williams. Even Samuel Williams brother named Samson Williams is listed in the 1881 census in Neath, Glamorganshire, Wales as Williams. But again, on the site he is listed as Scamp.

Hi
You don't need to create a new profile if you just want to update your avatar
Under your avatar there are 2 circles - tap the left hand one which has a head in the middle
Tap "modify profile" then "forum settings" - the rest is self explanatory

Hi Karen,
No the two profiles are totally independent to one another I can merge them but you will loose some of the notifications on your topics because I can only keep the notification on the one profile.
Pink jumper has 11 notifications
Blue jumper has 6 notifications
If you find your 11 topics on the pink jumper profile and click on the notifiy button it will them add them to your blue jumper profile - once you have confirmed I will merge your two profiles together.
Regards
