Hi this is an old photo of my great-grandmother taken in Wexford (Ireland) between 1895 and 1905.
It was most likely taken by Charles Vize who had a photographic studio in the town where poorer folk would also hire fancier clothes than they had and pose against the backdrop as seen.
It is in very poor condition so any improvement at all would be welcome.
Thanks.

Hi...any chance of a better scan? this is only scanned at a very low resolution of 96dpi and pixelates badly on enlargement. If you could scan at a resolution of 300dpi the results would be much better. You can post a file size of up 500kbs on here. and yours is only 125kbs.
Miracles can happen...with the right scan ;)

As Carol says, the image is very low quality which means it's difficult to work with.
I did a quick clean-up though which may be easier on the eye. Removed some of the marks/scratches, level correction to bring out more detail from the blown out areas, then desaturated.

Had a go, maybe not right choice of colours though
