I have possible links from Kent to Newark on my GGGFathers side.
Callis to Lacey. I wondered if there could be a traveller connection

Could you give a little more information, such as names, places or dates for your Callis and Lacey?

Yes I have that wedding. George Lacey, born 1776,is my G G Grandfather. His son, also George, was born in Newark, Notts 1808. George junior is described in several censuses as a brazier or tinman, both common occupations among Gypsies/Travellers.

George Lacey, marriage 1803, pops up in about 100 trees on Ancestry.  (Claims that he and wife die in 1841/1839)  Have you compared notes with any tree owners?
With 100 trees, work here would appear a bit superfluous until you have talked to them.
I think the parents are claimed as Edward Lacey (born 1750) and Mary Elston (born 1741)
Edward's parents (this is just ONE quick tree look, chosen at random) are John Lacey, 1721, and Rebekak Hoyes, 1724, his parents Abraham Lacey, 1683, and Hannah Rawson, 1687, his parents John Lacie, 1657, and Susannah Wilson, 1661.

Have you got marriage or birth certificates for any of his large family, children, brothers, cousins, etc to see how they describe themselves, and whether the wives come from the same community?
