Hello All
I'd be really grateful for any help to narrow down the dates and any other suggested details for the attached photograph.
The picture of the group of children used to be on the wall of my grandparent's house in Asfordby Hill, Leicestershire. My grandparents were Frederick Harold Brown (10/01/1914 - 02/06/1997) and Freda Bates (13/03/1912 - 25/09/2000), married 26/08/1940. Unfortunately I can't find anyone who knows who these children are, or when the photo was taken.
Any ideas would be really welcome.
Thank you...

Hi Robert and welcome to RootsChat, children are never easy to date and the sailor suit was fashionable over many decades, but my guess would be 1930s. It's always a good idea to post the whole photo and to include a scan of the back if you have it.
The little boy on the left looks to have his shoes on the wrong feet. ;D

He does doesn't he . . . . The toes look wrong. ;)
But the buckles (thicker strap) seem to be on the outside as one would expect. :-\
Wiggy.

Is it just a background picture or are the children on a boat.

Do you think their father might have been a naval man
Perhaps it would be worth looking back into the family tree

It's a photographer's backdrop to compliment the boy's outfits.
