Title: Pendower, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Post by: senteacher on Tuesday 15 October 19 15:49 BST (UK)
I'm trying to find information about staff at Pendower between 1891 and 1897. The names of the staff are as follows:
M. Parker (f)
I. Curry (f)
H. Curry (f)
L. Berry (f)
J. Moffat (f)
Tom Smith.

I have a photograph of the above but cannot find them on any census material. If anyone had a relative who worked for the Pease family with any of the names above, I would be very grateful if they could contact me.
Similarly, if anyone knows where I could find employment / wages books etc. I'd be very interested. I know there are letters etc. at The Wellcome Foundation and Friend's libraries in Euston but I'm hoping there might be some information closer to Newcastle. Tyne and Wear and Northumberland Archives don't appear to have what I'm looking for.

On the 1891 census Piece4262; Folio: 130; Page: 20 John W Pease and family with lots of staff-some of whom seem to match up to your list.

Thank you. I never thought to look for them at the 'summer residence'!  This is really helpful.

Have you tried Newcastle City library local studies for information?  I have a friend who has told me that they do have a book on Pendower and amongst lots of other info this contains what staff  they had but this does not refer to them by name.  This book is kept in the stack and you would have to specifically request and sign for this to view.

However, I would contact the local studies if you haven't already as they might be able to help further.
