Hi, could anyone help me identify the Naval Officers in these photos, please? I believe they will all be deceased now as the photos may have been taken between c.1930 to c.1950. The photos were found in my late grandfathers photo albums. I have identified the ranks ok but have had no luck in putting names to the people. I don't know what ships these were on either. If i could identify just one Officer it may give me a lead to identifying the rest. I believe my grandfather took the pictures or obtained them at the time.
Thank you
p.s i am unable to upload the second photo for some reason - it is 172kb

The tompion on the gun behind the officers looks like that on HMS Griffin. I don't know if that helps at all

The central figure may be an Admiral and his stand-up wing collar may help to date the photo, as they went out of use.
On our left is a Captain, and right is a Commander, all are Royal Navy, with WW1 medals.

Although I like the Griffin tampion association, the guns in the photo are a bit big for a destroyer. They look more like battleship/battle cruiser barrels and that suggests that the group might be a fleet Admiral with his ship's Captain and the Captain's deputy, the Commander.
Perhaps just pre-WW2 ?

That'll be it. Good one, Tony

What looks very much like the same photo was in the Portsmouth Evening News on Wednesday 30 May 1934. The captions says " Captain S.D. Tillard (Flag Captain), Admiral Sir Roger Backhouse, and Commander R.S.G. Nicholson."

Good evening,
I thought the one in the middle looked like Humphry Bogart and that it was from a film. Until I read the reply from Drosybont.
