Dear rootschat community
After a short illness, it is with sadness I inform you one of our members RajahNZ quietly and comfortably passed away last night, Saturday 21st, New Zealand time. Rajah was a seasoned member and as with many in our genealogy community generous in her approach and time. Rajah has made many friends on her journey traveling the yellow brick road to shatter those stubborn walls which hold the essence of distant memories.
I will miss you dear friend

Will miss you my friend we had good hunts and chats over the years

I was at the travel agency yesterday checking out flights to New Zealand to finally meet Raj in person. We have had great chats over the phone and many chats and emails over the years.
We sent gifts to each other and I finally was in a position to meet up but it's not meant to be.
I'm sitting here crying with sadness that such a wonderful, thoughtful, caring person is not around to chat to anymore. I just hope she can visit ancestors and break down those brick walls and fill in the gaps with lots of details.
Farewell Jean. May your new journey be wonderful.

Will miss our chats. You always spoke a little bit of Maori to me, teaching me words i didn't know. Always greeting me and saying goodbye in Maori too.
You helped me with family research, finding items i'd looked for and never found. I remember you did a lot of voluntary work as well. You will be sadly missed though I'm sure we'll all remember the good times we had
Haere Ra Jean. Rest in Peace <3
Love and hugs to your daughter <3

Back in June 2011 Yorvick passed away and Rajah was among the many who posted comforting words of support.
May I share the link to her post back on 24 June 2011
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=540474.msg3941730#msg3941730
for I am sure that Jean's passing 'leaves a long trail for the rest of her friends on and offline to follow. A very special lady who will be much missed.'
Look after and support each other and may Jean’s family and friends be comforted knowing that she is missed by so many.
I was once a frequenter of the Chatroom when I first joined RChat. Raj always found time to welcome everyone as they entered.

Thanks for sharing majm
Rajah is probably not so well known on the boards as she frequented the chat room and yes support is important. Creating a post is one way and thanks to all who are contributing..it is a good way to express our sorrow and for the family.

Hi Everyone
Rajah (Jean) had a lovely send off yesterday with many in attendance.
Gretta, (Jeans) daughter read your messages for the family and says thank you for sharing in her grief and for the kind words you expressed about her mother. It is touching to see Jean has left her imprint on so many.
Haere rā to our good friend, a wife and mother.
Arohanui from us all

Thanks for giving us the latest news Lil, it's pleasing to see that Rajah was given a memorable send off, which would be a great comfort to her nearest and dearest.
Can I just say, even though it's such a sad time, I'm really pleased to see you're up and around Lil and, of course, other cyberpals from the chatroom, who've seen and then contributed to this thread.

Thanks Rena
It's always good to come back and touch base with friends. Hope all is well with you too

As I have been away from the RC room, I have only just found out about the passing of my dearest friend Rajah. I would often think of her and wonder how she was going, like so many of you I had so many interesting chats and researches. I am deeply sadden to only now just hear of her passing.
May you find all your answering up there Rajah and I know you will be feeling so much better. To her beautiful daughter Gretta my thoughts go to you as well, but I know she will never leave your side.
Forever Remembered . xxx

I consider many rootschatters are also story tellers
Raj certainly passed on her language + culture
The only Maori sentence I know comes from her .
*I will start a separate topic about this as don't wish to detract from tributes to Raj
