Title: Placename in Urquhart & Logie Wester, Scotland in 1737
Post by: ColDownUnder on Thursday 19 September 19 22:20 BST (UK)
Hi, hoping someone's again able to come to my aid re: the attached birth cert. snippet featuring a placename that looks like Ballrelan. It isn't, of course, having checked variations in ScotlandsPlaces.
This one is a toughie but I'm confident someone out there will rise to the occasion. Thanks.
Cheers,
Col  :)

It's hard to tell what is a letter in the placename, as opposed to a tail of a letter in the line above.
Looking at https://www.scottish-places.info/parishes/parmap228.html  the closest guess I can offer is a misspelled (or variation?) of Balrailan.  (On the linked map, a bit east of the star marking Urquart &Logie Wester).

Hi & thanks bbart & Treetotal.
I think you're right Treetotal with the Balreillan appearing on your linked map as either a locality or estate perhaps.
Will go ahead & investigate the place further now.
Many thanks.
Cheers,
Col  :)

Could also be a misspelling of "Balreillan".
