I can’t get on to the site at all, safari on my iPad has just popped up an error message saying “safari could not open the page because it could not load any data.”
Is it just me?
-
It's not loading for me either!

It’s not just me then! ;D
I hope it comes back soon.
-
Same here, on Edge and Firefox, seems to be a server problem.
-
May be they are uploading more records. I can’t get past the home page.
-
Unlikely, the search for the census is gone as well I've noticed they both go down at the same time, obviously they use the same server.
We shall just have to wait.
-
Same here.
It did happen to me before earlier this week--I believe on Sunday early morning.
They always return to normal next morning.
-
This morning the home page is loading, but search still not working for me.
-
Same for me, Lisa. Both sites show home page but that is it.
-
Lisa, I can't even get to the home page. It's still just loading for me. ???
Using Windows 10 and Google Chrome.

404 error messages on both sites now, I would think that means they are working on the fault.
-
It's back up now for me on my laptop.
Happy days! ;D ;D

Yep, both sites appear to be in full working order now. I think that server gives trouble fairly often on the search parts of those two sites, I get the impression you need to wait until they get into work in the mornings for a fix if it goes down after 5ish GMT.

Oh dear, they seem to have done some tidying and removed index entries for records where the images haven't yet been digitised, for example deaths before 1879 and marriages before 1864.
Just tested a number of pre 1879 deaths, where previously the index would return the death, but have no group registration id number as there wasn't yet an image to view. Now, the index entry is awol.
Maybe someone else would care to check that I haven't just imagined this.
-
Just tried a general search for deaths pre 1867 and marriages pre 1863, lots of results.
Can't say if any missing as I wasn't looking for one in particular.
-
Just checked as well.
The main difference pre 1878 (deaths) and pre 1864 (marriages) is that the SR District/Reg Area has lost its name and has now become N/R.
My ancestor Allen Nixon who died in Enniskillen in 1865 has now become:

Aha, I was searching using specific areas, so that's why none were showing. Hopefully they re-instate the 'area' again, as very confusing without it there.
-
Both gone again
-
Indeed, Sinann, they're both refusing to load!

Same here. I think we need to report this issue to them?
Maybe they were not aware of this issue or they did not bother announcing that they are maintaining the website?
-
It's not the websites it's the server.
-
I was wondering when Claire would have a bit of news on this issue.
Working on it seems to be the best we get for the moment.

It's been okay for a few days now, touch wood.

Using an old thread to report/ask about a new problem. For the past two days every time I try to carry out a search the system just hangs after clicking on the 'I am not a robot' captcha box. This occurs with all features, including the Feedback page so I can't contact the site. Anyone else experiencing the same problem or can suggest a work around?
I am not a robot by the way, in case anyone is wondering...

Yes, report’s starting to fly all over about this, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Just read someone with a contact in the GRO reports it’s been working on.
-
Claire Santry's take on the technical problem-

Thanks for the update. Haven't tried again yet, but let's hope it gets fixed before the weekend

Access problems continue.... :-\

And the GRONI website is down for maintenance as well, not a good weekend for anyone planning to do some Irish research.
-

-
