I wonder if anybody has come across anything about the Burgess family in Dunbar. I believe they begin in the area with Adam Burgess (b. 1796) arriving and settling in the area - maybe sometime after 1810 and certainly by 1830 - he was originally from the Shetlands.
The family were fishermen. My direct ancestor Alexander Burgess (b. 1908) left the area when his father (also Alexander - b. 1884) moved to Northumbria to work in the mines.

Adam Burgess died on 23/3/1864 at Shore Place, Dunbar. It was registered by his son Adam. He is listed as widower of Ann Comb. Parents are listed as Robert Burgess and Agnes Aitken both deceased.
