I have the death of a Philip John Hearsey 25th Aug 1955 We have two reasons for death. 1st Philip died in a motorcycle accident on local road 2nd Philip was a motorcycle road racer, crashed during a race. No idea if there is or was a circuit in the Bournmouth area. Has anyone the means to locate an obituary in a local area paper Or from any other scource which would confirm either story. Along shot I know but would solve the problem I have. Thanks Alun

Nothing is showing up in the Newspaper Archive, perhaps someone going to the Heritage Zone at Bournemouth Library would be kind enough to look in the Bournemouth Echo for you, I know they have the Echo on microfilm.
Note the correct spelling for BOURNEMOUTH.
I stand to be corrected but, as far I am aware any road racing in Bournemouth would have been illegal.

Failing the newspapers it might be worth contacting the Royal Bournemouth Hospital as his will entry says that he died in the Victoria Hospital, Boscombe.
(He is listed as HERSEY)

There is Poole Pirates, a motorcycle speedway team, based in Poole since 1948. Perhaps he was connected to them?

Not showing with Poole pirates:

Sorry this is a bit late - I don't visit very often. There was motorcycle road racing at Blandford Camp which may well have continued as late as 1955. This would possibly have seen injured riders hospitalised at Bournemouth. There have been some pictures on the Dorset Bygones facebook group.

Have you seen this:

It seems he was racing at Crystal Palace in April 1955

That also gives his surname Hersey, and from Ash, Surrey.
If people looked for Hearsey, and only in Bournemouth area, they might have missed him.

What information does his death certificate give
