Can anyone help me find his birth and parents?
He was a handloom weaver by trade. He married Elizabeth GRUBB in Dundee in 1829, where the register gives his name as Alexander CULBERT. On the census he and his family are noted as CUTHBERT. He was living in Bellfield Lane in 1841 and Bernard Street in 1851. He died in 1879. I have seen the family headstone (Balgry Cemetery), but it gives no indication of where he was born or his parents names. I have some info on his children, so anyone with connections is welcome to send me a PM.

Have you seen his death certificate at all?
There is only one John Cuthbert who died in Scotland in 1879 but this was registered at St Rollox which is in Glasgow. I also checked Culbert and there was no results.
Perhaps he moved from Dundee to Glasgow after the 1851 Census?
The death certificate has a high probability of showing his parents names, although this depends entirely on the knowledge of the informant so there is a risk it may show nothing there.
EDIT: Although the John Cuthbert that died St Rollox 1879 was aged 61 so this is a bit out.
EDIT2 Ignore my last message for some reason I read his name as John. unsure why.
Try this Death Cert on Scotland's People for Alexander.

In the 1871 census there is a 66 year old Alexander Cuthbert living with a 64 year old Elizabeth Cuthbert at 14 Lowdens Alley, Dundee (this is a transcript so may not be accurate).
He is a Linen Weaver. It states his place of birth is Dundee.
The death certificate is the most likely source of his parent's names. Although this depends on the knowledge of whoever the informant was.
