Title: Scandinavian Families in Newfoundland - St John and/or Harbour Grace
Post by: billybarnowl on Tuesday 20 August 19 15:58 BST (UK)
Hi There
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has found Scandinavian ancestors in St John and/or Harbour Grace before 1820.

Why am I interested?

My great^3 grandmother was born St John 1813 and has an unusual first name  Darthula - which my be Scandinavian in origin.

Many thanks

I have never come across that name in my 30 years in Scandinavia. Do you have a reason for thinking it may be Scandinavian? What was her surname?

I've seen it as Dar Thula. Gaelic in origin.
