Hi,
Does anyone have access to the marriage records for Sheppey?
I am looking for the marriage of Frederick C Brown to Violet E R Morfee nee Bailie who married JFM 1923. I would really like to find out who Fredericks father was.
Can anyone help?
Many Thanks.
Sue.

To look up a marriage in parish records you need to know which church it took place in.
These are all the areas covered by the Sheppey RD

According to Kent County Council Registration Services they married at the Sheppey Register Office
Register SSHEP/15
Entry Number 197
(As they married on a Saturday :)) ) I can give you the exact date, 10 February 1923

There is a World War 1 Pension Ledger Index card for Frederick Charles Brown which gives a death date of 25 June 1923 and next of kin Violet Ethel Rose Brown , widow. Using the service number 144970 and Regiment R.A.M.C. it's possible to find a service record for Frederick. This gives a birth year of 1880 and birthplace as St George's Hanover Square. It also gives an address : 48 Westbourne Street, Eaton Square. The document also lists a previous wife, Nelly Norreys and a daughter , Winifred Alice born in 1907.
Nelly Norreys Winny and Frederick Brown O-D 1902 St George , Hanover Square 1a 992
Winifred Alice Brown J-M 1907 St George , Hanover Square 1a 443
The family can be found on the 1911 census on the subscription sites , but I can't find them on familysearch and I'm not allowed to give the information from FindMyPast or ancestry. If you can find them in 1911 you should be able to trace Frederick back and find him with his parents.
I have just found a copy of the certificate for the first marriage on someone's tree - Frederick's father is Thomas Butler Brown , deceased painter. The couple's address is 4 Allington Place .
1901 census
Thos Butler Brown
Sarah Ann Brown
Fdk Chs Brown
address : 4 Allington Place ( as per marriage ).
RG13; Piece: 85; Folio: 69; Page: 38
In case you have ancestry , here's a link to the certificate :

Hope this is not too garbled - it's bed time ;D

I cant find them in 1861 Census or Thomas B Brown in 1861 either (he should be married with a Daug Elizabeth age 1)

Thanks for that Trish.
I couldn’t find them on the 1861 or 1891. Will keep looking.
Thanks so much for all the help you’ve given.
