Good Morning
I have both a death entry and a marriage entry from parish records in Norway and am having difficulty with some of the translation and wonder if there is anyone on this forum who could assist.
-
Hi
Just post them and I'll do it for you.

Thanks Ian much appreciated
Steve
Link for the death record.....https://urn.digitalarkivet.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070919610238.jpg
The death record is number 25, I am interested to know the word before Iver Henning, the word after his age 38 which I believe is his residence, and the last 2 entries the first is I believe the cause of death.
-
Marriage entry number 15, the second side of the page baffles me
Steve
-
The ones I see straight away are -
The word before his name is Dyrlæge - vet.
His residence is Elieplads.
Ian
-
Ok vet makes sense as I have that info from another source. Now I will need to look up where Elieplads is
Thanks
-
Can I also have the source to the marriage please.
Ian
-
He died of Tæring - Tuberculosis.
I can't work out the other word unfortunately.

I dont have the source I think it may be from ancestry but I have let my subscription lapse for now, this is the heading at the top of the pdf file if this means anything:
Maria Magdalena kyrkoarkiv, Lysnings- och vigselböcker, SE/SSA/0012/E I/5 (1813-1839) - C0065009_00179 (Riksarkivet)
-
Just realized it is Swedish.
-
Sorry yes thought I had mentioned
-
What was the year of the marriage?
-
11th april 1830 in stockholm
-
The marriage:
Vet student Mr Iver Henning born 7 May 1803 in Norway living in Hedvig Eleanora Parish. Married by Professor Doctor Frans M Franzen. Left for Trondheim 14 Apr 1830.
Single Maria Karsten born 19 Jan 1805 Storkyrko. Virtuous. Living in Höga Loftet.

Thanks for the banns and birth records Ian.
Through a group on Facebook I have discovered a lot more about Iver Henning & Maria Karsten, I have the birth/baptism records for their 8 children including my gt gt grandfather Carl Christian "Charles", I already know much about Charles and it was you who helped me last year in my search when he went missing in the UK and turned up in the US.
Iver bought Voldsminde farm in 1840, he died the following year of tuberculosis and Maria marries sheriff Hans P Fyhn, Maria dies in 1844 so I am now looking for her death record.
You translated the residence Elieplats for me, i have discovered info about this place on this link https://www.strindahistorielag.no/wiki/index.php?title=Strinda_formannskap
I wonder what became of the children when Iver died, 7 aged from 10 years to one month, presumably they were with her and her new husband, but when she dies 3 years later what then, it doesnt bear thinking about.
Thanks for your help

Just worked out the word in the last column on Iver's death record. It is Elsæther. It was a farm in Strinda.

Yes I remember. I just re-read all that. I had forgotten that I had found some of those records.

I have tried searching on the Norwegian Archive but I can't get my head around the search options. Could I trouble you to see if there is a birth record for Iver Henning, I dont know his parents names but I believe he was born 7th May 1803
Thanks
Steve
-
The problem is that we don't know where he was born.
-
I have no clues whatsoever
-
Found Iver's birth record in Henning Parish 7 May 1803 (now we know where his surname came from) - right page 4th record down.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01o7v/
His parents were Baard Olsen and Gurrue? Svensdatter.
Ian
-
Ian you are a star, I dont know how you do it!!!
Thanks again
Steve
-
Cheers.
I took a gamble thinking he took Henning from the parish. And he did.

Here is Baard Olsen and Guru Svensdatter's marriage record in Henning Parish 2 Nov 1786 - right page 3rd record down:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01o80/
It looks lika Baard was a dragoon in the cavalry.

Thats interesting, they must have had a few more children as Iver wasnt born until 1803.
