Title: Norwegian Church Records
Post by: stevejgarton on Thursday 15 August 19 09:57 BST (UK)
Good Morning

I have both a death entry and a marriage entry from parish records in Norway and am having difficulty with some of the translation and wonder if there is anyone on this forum who could assist.

Thanks Ian much appreciated

Link for the death record.....https://urn.digitalarkivet.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070919610238.jpg

The death record is number 25, I am interested to know the word before Iver Henning, the word after his age 38 which I believe is his residence, and the last 2 entries the first is I believe the cause of death.

Thanks for the banns and birth records Ian.

Through a group on Facebook I have discovered a lot more about Iver Henning & Maria Karsten, I have the birth/baptism records for their 8 children including my gt gt grandfather Carl Christian "Charles", I already know much about Charles and it was you who helped me last year in my search when he went missing in the UK and turned up in the US.

Iver bought Voldsminde farm in 1840, he died the following year of tuberculosis and Maria marries sheriff Hans P Fyhn, Maria dies in 1844 so I am now looking for her death record.

You translated the residence Elieplats for me, i have discovered info about this place on this link https://www.strindahistorielag.no/wiki/index.php?title=Strinda_formannskap

I wonder what became of the children when Iver died, 7 aged from 10 years to one month, presumably they were with her and her new husband, but when she dies 3 years later what then, it doesnt bear thinking about.

Thanks for your help

Steve

Just worked out the word in the last column on Iver's death record. It is Elsæther. It was a farm in Strinda.

Found Iver's birth record in Henning Parish 7 May 1803 (now we know where his surname came from) - right page 4th record down.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01o7v/

His parents were Baard Olsen and Gurrue? Svensdatter.

Here is Baard Olsen and Guru Svensdatter's marriage record in Henning Parish 2 Nov 1786 - right page 3rd record down:

It looks lika Baard was a dragoon in the cavalry.

Thats interesting, they must have had a few more children as Iver wasnt born until 1803.
