I think this might be the witness at John’s marriage, his brother I presume, sadly no birth record for either but it looks like they were born in the County.
Robert Amos married Jane Evans 10 May 1833 Bagillt, Flintshire
1841 – Holywell, all born Flintshire.
Robt Amos 35, Jane 30
Martha 6, Joseph 3, Thomas 1

Robert died before 1851 census so still no clue to place of birth.

Hello Colin and Mabel
If John and Robert are two brothers I do wonder why they both died so young, John 34yrs and Robert 42yrs, were deaths recorded in a local newspaper at this time?
Thomas 9yrs showing in the 1841 Census with his mother Jane and siblings, 1851C with mother 18yrs, is the grandfather of Edith Amos who married my grandfather's brother William James Froggatt (ka James), Edith is buried with her husband and my grandfather in Crewe Cemetery, Cheshire, although only Edith's name is to be found on the gravestone.
Amos seems to be a popular surname around 1841 and before, do you know if where any records of churches baptisms, marriages and deaths are kept?
I have tried several times to go further back with John who married Jane Roberts, so many families with the surname Amos it gets confusing ???
Thank you for your interest, appreciated.

Hi Marthannie,
I had a quick look and the following looks likely and worth further research:
John Amos and Jane Roberts (married 1830) had the following children that I can see..
Elizabeth, baptised 1830 of Greenfield, father John a miner
Thomas , baptised 1832 of Calcot, father John a miner
Harriet, baptised 1834, of Pantasa, father John a miner
Mary, baptised 1837, of Pantasa, ditto
Robert, baptised 1839, of Pantasa, ditto
John was buried 21 Mar 1840, of Mwdwl Eithin, age shown as 32 in parish register but 34 on GRO
Robert Amos (1807-1849) and Jane Evans (married 1833, witnessed by Joseph Amos & Grace Amos)
Martha, baptised 1834
Joseph 1838
Thomas 1839
Robert 1842
Edward 1842 (d 1842)
John 1844
Mary 1848
I believe that John is most likely to be the son of Robert Amos & Mary Davies...
Robert & Mary married 1800 in Whiford Parish Church, children baptised in same church...
John 20 Jun 1800, buried 26 Jan 1802
Mary 8 Nov 1802 (died before 1816)
Thomas 8 Dec 1804 ( buried 1823 of Pantasa, or 1825 of Mwdwl leithin)
John 21 Dec 1806
Robert 21 Jan 1810 (died 1839)
Rachel 6 Jun 1813 (married John Jones in 1837)
Mary 2 Oct 1816 (married Edward Williams, father Robert with them in 1851)
Joseph 25 Oct 1818
I believe that this Robert is the brother of Joseph Amos, and the uncle to Robert who married Jane Evans....
Joseph Amos married Grace Jones, 1802, Nannerch, the following children were baptised at Whitford Parish Church...
Elizabeth 1803, of Uwch Glam
Thomas 1804 (buried 1823 of Pantasa, or 1825 of Mwdwleithin)
Robert 1807 (married Jane Evans 1833) died 1849
Joseph 1812 (presumed died prior to 1817)
Then the following children baptised in nonconformist church...
Joseph 1817 (married Elizabeth Davies 1840)
Dinah 1820 (died 1844)
Anne 1824 (possibly died 1842)
Also Grace 1809 (baptism has father as Thomas, marriage shows father as Joseph, with father Joseph in 1841, died 1841 not long after she married Samuel Edwards). Modified
The nonconformist records show that Joseph senior was born in Saviog (as written), I believe that this is actually Ysceifog..
Thomas Amos & Martha (1748-1836) had the following children....
Robert 1780 Ysceifog (died 1855 Pantasa)
Joseph 1782 Ysceifog (died 1849)
Thomas 1788 Holywell (married Lucy Hughes in 1808)
Jane 1791 Uwch Glan (died 1793)
Elizabeth 1794 Uwch Glan
Hopefully that makes some sense and is useful,
Jo :)

Hello Jo
Have I got this right please, I'm not the sharpest ???
Thomas Amos m Martha ?
One son Robert Amos married Mary Davies
Grandson of Thomas: John Amos married Jane Roberts
A second son, brother of Robert, Joseph married Grace Jones.
Their son Robert Amos married Jane Evans.
I do hope I have this right, if so, I can fill in all the other siblings with the information you have given me.
Many thanks, marthaannie

Hi Marthaannie,
Yes, I believe that Thomas and Martha are the grandparents of your John who married Jane Roberts, the Robert who witnessed their marriage is either Johns father Robert (1780-1855), his brother Robert (1810-1839), or his cousin Robert (1807-1849).
They are also the grandparents of Robert (1807-1849) who married Jane Evans, their marriage was witnessed by Joseph Amos & Grace Amos, this could be Roberts father Joseph (1782-1849) or brother Joseph (1817) and his sister Grace (1809-1841) or his mother Grace (1781-1836).
I hope that makes sense.....?
Jo :)
