Title: Found Photograph, Cardiff, Wales
Post by: EmsOverfield on Sunday 11 August 19 20:12 BST (UK)
Hi all. I found this image in the attic of a house my friend bought. We would like to see if we can identify any details. The people who sold the house have no idea who the picture is of (the house has been rented out for quite some time, to lots of different families).

Even a rough date would be good, just to quench my curiosity if nothing else :-)

It's a composited photo. The gentleman on the left would be standing at an extreme angle to match the person on the right sitting down if he were set level. The uniform on the left is either Late WW1 or early WW2 dress uniform. Could be a generational thing.

Just my two cents.

Dr. Dude

Addendum: Gave the photo a quick cleaning and repair. Hope it helps.

Fabulous photo; imagine finding that of your own ancestor(s).

I’ll post a link to the Glamorgan FHS facebook page.

Are we allowed to know where the house is (street, or area at least, not the actual address).

Just wondering if someone from the armed Forces Board or Jim might be able to give you detail info about the uniform.

I'll PM Jim  :)

Yep WW1 & the men are wearing pre 1916 tunic.
The man standing looks like possibly Essex Regt.
The man seated possibly the Welch Regt.
As has been said this is a composite so possibly father & son.
A lot of possibles I know.

Can you find the address in the 1911 census? There might be a chance one or more of the occupants is pictured. It may be possible to match to a recruitment, service, decoration or pension record.

Regards
Roger
